Crossfit, Snow Shoveling & Polar Plunging

We’re showcasing the work of students Kellen Gursky, Stephen Bendig & Tiffany Jackson in this post.  This month they produced TV news stories for our show WCN 24/7.  Check out their work.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.– You will sweat thanks to Westminster’s assistant football coach Kyle Cooper.  He teaches the first-ever Crossfit class on the P.E. schedule at the college.   WCN’s Kelley Gursky introduces us to the coach teaching the course that’s based on one of the toughest fitness trends sweeping the country.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.– Another winter storm warning means getting the shovels, snow blowers, plows aimagesnd ice melters ready.  In many local communities, local ordinances require property owners to keep the public sidewalks clear of snow and ice or face a citation.  That is the case for New Wilmington.  WCN 24/7’s Stephen Bendig breaks down the rules in our borough because when it snows you’re required to shovel.

PORTERSVILLE, Pa.– Sub-zero temperatures and wind chill warnings have cancelled and delayed school days and made most people eager for spring.  However, a group of hearty volunteers out to raise money for Lawrence County’s Habitat for Humanity took on Mother Nature for the annual Douse for the House fundraiser at Moraine State Park in February.  A frozen Lake Arthur even forced volunteers to use chainsaws to cut through the ice so the polar plungers could jump into the icy water.  This year 76 people braved the cold to take a dip in the lake. 10671374_805871766130804_3610331230136495656_nWCN’s Tiffany Jackson also braved the cold to show us when happens when the polar plunge takes place on one of the coldest days of the year.
