The Westminster Cable Network (WCN) feeds our television programming to regional cable subscribers including Comcast customers in the New Castle area and Armstrong customers in Lawrence and Mercer counties.
WCN features a weekly “Coaches Corner” interview show focused on Westminster Athletics.
Student staffers also produce a regular news magazine show called WCN 24/7 mirroring daily coverage of the local campus and community on our website, “WCN 24/7.”
WCN is also home to live and recorded remote telecasts on cable and online at WCN Live. All those programs are also archived on WCN Live. The shows include Titan home football games, high school football games, Titan men’s and women’s basketball, the Lawrence County Band Festival and more.
Our students also produce short documentaries as capstone projects that are shared on WCN.
WCN is also an award winning operation honored by the Television Academy Foundation with a College Emmy, the BEA Festival of Media Arts and College Broadcasters, Inc.
Our students produce live studio shows, promotions, PSAs, commercials, live remote telecasts, documentaries and vodcasts. The practical opportunities are for all Broadcast and Digital comm students, including first-years. The hands-on experiences enhances and advances skills, techniques and expertise in writing, producing, directing, videography, digital video editing, management, reporting, interviewing, storytelling and more. Students also have a lot of fun as they serve as the staff and crew on camera and behind the scenes.
