Westminster Cable’s new technical operation manager, Gary Swanson, called out the troops on the last Friday night of August for a dress rehearsal producing a live television remote broadcast of a sports event.

Amanda Sloan keeping it lose as she goes off the shoulder and on the fieldThe Titan Crew, made up of students enrolled in the Broadcast Comm practicum, rallied around WCN’s remote truck at Burry Stadium for the scrimmage between Westminster and Oberlin.

The real world experience is complete with pulling cables, camera positions, producing, directing and on-air announcing.  These practicum students have a rigorous schedule with coverage of Titan home games.  The crew also has a selection of local high school football games on the agenda.

Gary SwansonWe want to welcome Gary Swanson, a Westminster alumnus and a product of this program, to this new position as operations manager.  Gary comes to the program after serving for many years as the director of Audio Visual Services.  He also has experience in commercial broadcasting and bleeds blue and white for Westminster.

Westminster FootballThe football scrimmage served as the backdrop for the debut of the new Westminster College football helmet.  It’s a big deal– the first big makeover in the Titan uniform and it transposes the color scheme.  The helmets are now a matte Titan blue with a white W and the Titan mascot.  Good luck, Titans.

All our best to the remote crews this season!  Have great broadcasts!  You can check out their work online as it happens stream the telecasts live on
